Rebuilding Associations through Community with Thom Singer

The pace of change in business and our society is moving at a record pace. Generational changes and how we use technology are impacting the world and it is having a direct impact on associations. While the promise of social media and smartphones was a more connected society, the US Surgeon General has proclaimed an “Epidemic of Loneliness”. Thom Singer believes that associations and other industry groups are the antidote for disconnection, but they need to embrace community building in new ways to have an impact.
Regardless of if an association needs to rebuild, or if they are currently riding high, the introduction of more sophisticated AI tools will impact every industry, and the association world needs to be looking for ways to shift with the changing times. But the more things change, the more they stay the same. Community is still what people seek from associations. After the pandemic we learned there are many ways to bring education and information, but human interaction (H.I.) still matters in an AI focused world.
Thom Singer is a professional keynote speaker and the CEO at the Austin Technology Council. For over 15 years speaking to association audiences he has stressed that community, collaboration, and conversations can solve all problems. As the CEO of ATC for the last two years he has embarked on rebuilding the 32 year old organization via these same words.
